Pay close attention to the use of language and try to make your text as effective as possible. Remember the deadline is Saturday (April 4th) by midnight. Let us the rest of Easter to check the blog and give some feed back to our mates (as a group or to separate individuals, or both!), AT LEAST ONCE.

Poetry... is the great way to express reality or to evoke emotions, feelings, producing reactions, comments. Poetry is art where the author writes influenced by his/her values, beliefs, ideas, illusions, combining words, verbs, patterns of sound, and figures of speech. Also, It is an expression of a particular vision or an opinion about the real world where the author uses some techniques as aesthetics as natural with the main aim: to express or to project any point of great interest using language according to the situation and context; poetry is a mixture of elements sharing styles, points of view, experiences and some of them with metrical rules.

Culture refers to how people appreciates the information about customs, rules, norms, beliefs, language, politics, government, art, knowledge, literature, music, religions and so on; all these elements have been acquired by the members of society through different generations. It´s part of the human behavior.

Poetry is the representation of life using words, it tries to describe or portrait different circumstances and situations that are part of human nature in a creative way. Also, some poems contain a kind of secret code or message because it is addressed to a specific audience who is able in most of the cases to feel identified with it and to understand it.
Culture refers to the collection of different elements, such as religion, customs, values, arts, language, and ideologies, among many others, that constitute a specific social group.

On one hand, I think, Poetry is the representation of art through somebody's inspiration, who writes expressing his/her feelings, desires, and thoughts in a freely way, and in a very personal style; using a standard or an academic language, and also combining a serie of elements such as rhym and sounds which are necessary in a literary work, to give the essence of what the author want to transmite to the audience.

On the other hand, I think Culture is the combination of customs, beliefs, art, religion, and way of life that are shared and accepted by people of a society or a group.

Poetry is the portray of an author's experiences, thoughts and perceptions, towards a specific topic, in which this author connects the readers to culture:lifestyle, believes, ideologies as the poem developes; Poetry is a link to a variety of cultures which allows the reader to get in touch with different perspectives of a particular topic

Poetry could be defined as the act through words to express the beauty of the world that involves different situations which the man has faced from the beginning of humanity such as: life, death, love, war, religion, identity and some others.Poetry is written in verses by people who are very sensitive about things that happen around them.Poetry and culture are interconnected due to culture is the knowledge that a person has through any specific situation in history and with the help of poetry can be reflected certain historical situations in an artistic and aesthetic way.For instance, any person in the 21 century that desires to know more about legends, folklore and relevance issues in the Medieval period in England or in the Contemporary period in Espain can easily access to Epics poems,Spanish poems or Medieval poems in order to show the reader in a creative way the events which marked the human history.

Poetry is every piece of literary work made out of feelings, such as love, passion, rage, amongst others, and it allows us to get inmersed into the authors' emotions, historic periods and their own realities in a very creative and enjoyable way.

Culture refers to all the knowledge, development of the language, arts, tools, intelligence, and methods of surviving achieved by people gathered in groups, all over the world, throughout the history.

Poetry is the dwelling of my joy and sadness.A place in which I can find myself,to cry and laugh in secret having words and my soul as accomplice.

Culture is what makes me feel identified with some people, and apart from some others. It is what makes me colective unique and different in contrast to some other colective groups.

Culture: It could be defined as everything the Man has created such as: ideas, believes, social codes, way of living, music, among others.

On the other hand, poetry is part of people´s culture. Poetry is the use of people´s words to express feelins, reality, history in a creative way.

When a selected group of words, wisely transformed into verses, merge onto a blank sheet of paper as the stage to portray sensations, feelings and behaviours that shape the essence of human nature; is when they all can show what poetry is.

Culture can be seen as the constant human necessity within any society to look for stability, spiritual peace, values and mass-agreements to live and coexist better.

Poetry is the skill that a person has to represent through words some ideas and thoughts about reality, and these words are most of the time structured in verses which give them a specific rhythm and/or musicality that characterizes it.

Now regarding to culture...I think it is everything that the human being has created and developed through time and therefore somehow it represents his own nature.

Hello Adrian very short and precise comment, though I have to say that in your definition or explanation of what poetry is for you, "words representing reality in a creative way", could have different interpretations. I mean what you are saying could be confused with some other term.

Hey Yuli I like you comments, they look very profound and passionate, though to be a definition they are a bit personal.

Poetry is an extended metaphor of life and reality. Usually it makes me feel like naked, when I discover my own thoughts, feelings and emotions in the words of another person who I don’t even know… And I result amazed because I think nobody is going to notice my fears, my love (sometimes), my tears, my expectations, my sorrow. But we (the poet and I) coincide in the place of poetry, we share emotions and we can understand each other as if we would have been friends for a long time, the poet knows me and I know him. It is like in the place of poetry, for a short time, we could become the same person.

On the other hand, culture is a human feature, and it results from the continuous necessity of human for belonging, for feeling identified. It gathers many factors as customs, believes, family, heritage, values, history, education, etc. Once I read “culture is all men do”, considering this thought, and considering the previous exposed also, literature as part of all those things men do, is created in order to make men feel identified with a group which is called society.

Poetry is not an end but the means which reflects real life issues, based on the author’s beliefs developed by different experiences about a theme. Reflection that possesses particular characteristics due to the usage of language devices that help to adorn the message but still make it short .

marjorie franco said...

Fanzi i like your concept of poetry although is short, you could show us the main characteristics of poetry in a few sentences..

marjorie franco said...

yolibel i like the way you developed the concept of culture but, i think culture implies more than rules and customs as a way of living, it is also related to history, intelligence and knowledge as i said before and gustavo.

I wonder If it is possible that Marjorie explains the term “sensitive people” used in her definition; because I think it might restrict or leave open the term poetry as something that just few can do or everybody.
Culture is actions that turn a human being into a member of a society.
I think that Gustavo’s definition of Culture presents an important point to take into account, when he mentions “methods of surviving” because it reflects what for me would be the roots of any culture.

It seems to me, Yuli was very inspired by the moment she was typing her comments about both topics. I liked them very much.
